- In most of the cases, 'wait and watch' policy is used where Cyst is monitored for few months at regular interval. This is especially done in cases of non complicated and functional cysts.
Conventional method of treatment:
- Medicines: Oral contraceptive pills can be given to arrest ovulation which reduces the formation of newer Cysts. Painkillers are used to alleviate pain.
- Surgery: Laparoscopy where Cyst is removed making tiny incision and use of camera can also be done. Laparotomy may also be indicated in large Cysts. This incised tissue is later sent for biopsy where checking under lens is done to rule out cancer. In rare cases, ovaries may have to be removed (oophorectomy)
