Apart from symptoms narrated by the patient following tests are helpful to make a diagnosis of Ovarian Cyst -
- Pelvic Examination: Routine pelvic examinations can determine the presence of Cyst in most cases. Usually, during examination swelling is noticed by the examiner.
- Ultrasonography: USG of pelvis can determine,size, type, location, and composition of Cyst using high frequency sound waves.
- Laparoscopy: This is a surgical procedure wherein the instrument laparoscope is inserted into the abdomen to visualize the ovaries.
- Blood tests: Hormonal levels like estrogen and progesterone are checked. If suspected, blood can also be checked for CA-125 to screen ovarian cancer.
