Definition of Tonsillitis

Tonsillitis is the inflammation of tonsils caused by viral or bacterial infection.

As statistics show, the disease occurs more in children than adults. And so, it is extremely vital to strengthen immunity right from a tender age so that good quality of life in adulthood is assured.

Tonsillitis can occur in two types depending on the time frame of the disease:

ACUTE TONSILLITIS- It is an acute infection of the palatine tonsils that commonly resolves within one week.

CHRONIC TONSILLITIS-It is a chronic inflammation resulting from repeated attacks of acute tonsillitis where symptoms last for more than two weeks.
