- PMDD: If not treated, it can lead to a severe form of PMS, called Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder. The American Psychiatric Association characterizes PMDD as a severe form of PMS in which moodswings, anger, irritability, and anxiety extremely intense.
- Depression: Severe form of depression may result if PMS is not treated.
- Abuse: In case of severe depression, patient may easily fall prey to substance abuse like alcohol, drugs and smoking.
- Medical diseases like Migraine, Mood disorders, Asthma if already present may get aggravated or triggered. Conditions like Epilepsy and other seizure disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Irritable Bowel Syndrome if present may also get exacerbated.
