A 63 year old male patient was diagnosed with COPD and was on medications since 5-6 years and his condition was only worsening. His main complaints were shortness of breath, breathlessness on walking or even speaking. Rattling in chest with mucus and cough with very scanty yellowish expectoration was present. Expectoration did not relieve him. Cough would prevent him to sleep at night and he had to sit up to alleviate his cough.
He was a chronic smoker and used to smoke around 20-25 cigarettes per day for the past 35 years. He was trying to reduce his smoking off lately, but it was very difficult for him. His appetite had decreased and so had his weight.
He was given Ant Tart. With homeopathic medicines, the cough had begun to loosen up and a lot of mucus was expectorated after 2 weeks. He felt much better after expulsion of cough. After a month, the breathlessness had reduced considerably and he was able to walk without getting breathless. He was advised to continue medicines and to do some breathing exercises as well.
