- Be physically active and provide adequate exercises to the lower extremities.
- Maintain a healthy weight by having a balanced diet and regular exercises.
- Elevate your legs while sitting or sleeping. While sleeping, make sure to elevate the legs above the heart level. This will ensure a proper blood flow.
- Change positions every 30 minutes and flex the calf muscles regularly.
- Wear Compression Stockings regularly for the required time.
- Do not stand or walk continuously for long time without taking a break.
- Do not wear tight clothing around the areas of lower abdomen, groin and thighs.
- Do not wear high heels for a very long time or better still, avoid them altogether.
- Do not expose the legs to excessively hot water and avoid bathing with very hot water. This will increase the swelling and blood stagnation.
