52 year old female, a professor, had developed sciatica since last 1 year. She had unbearable pains in the left hip which extended to the knee and toes. Pains usually aggravated while sitting and somewhat relieved by walking and entirely relieved by lying down. Pains in the left hip were felt with contraction. She also experienced painful jerks after falling asleep. She was moderately obese, and felt very sluggish in doing her daily activities. She also suffered from respiratory complaints, mostly dry hacking cough with burning in throat on and off. Her complaints started a year back, when some politics started happening in the college and she was mentally tortured so she leaves her job. She had kept grudges against many who she thought were against her. She however, could not speak her mind because of timidity and felt angry within. Both mental and physical symptoms were considered and she was given Ammonium Mur. After 2 weeks, she reported that there was 75% reduction in her pains, and painful jerks. She continued medicines for 3-4 months, after which her sciatica had completely relieved. The frequency of respiratory symptoms also reduced. She felt better mentally as well.
