Nephrotic Syndrome can happen to anyone, people of any age group, class, race or ethnicity. The following factors can increase the probability of one getting Nephrotic Syndrome:

  • Pre-existing diseases: Diabetes, SLE, Sarcoidosis, etc.
  • Certain Infections: Infections like HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Malaria, etc.
  • Medications: NSAIDs, Mercury, Penicillin, etc.
