Ringworm can be diagnosed by a qualified physician purely by clinical examination. Some physicians, however, prefer to confirm the diagnosis. In such cases, the doctor may advise the patient to go in for

• Wood Lamp test: The fungus glows on the skin when examined under a blue light in a dark room.
• Skin Biopsy: Here, skin scrapings are taken from the infected site or a fluid sample is taken from the centre of the eruption and sent to test for the fungus.
