Some of the complications of Oral Herpes are:

Keratoconjunctivitis - Inflammation of outer layers of the eyeball, viz. cornea and conjunctiva
Keratoconjunctivitis - Herpetiform Eczema - Widespread infection of the skin caused by herpes simplex virus
- Bacterial and fungal superinfection (added infection)
- Pneumonia - Infection of the lungs resulting in cough, fever and blood-streaked sputum
- Infection of the trachea or windpipe
- Pharyngitis - Inflammation of throat
- Tonsillitis - Inflammation and infection of tonsils
- Dehydration in children
Herpetic Whitlow - Widespread infection and life threatening complications in debilitated patients with low immunity, HIV patients and organ transplant recipients
- Bell's Palsy - Paralysis or weakness of muscles of one side of the face
- Hemiparesis - Paralytic or weakness of one half of the body
- Rare complications of oral herpes include widespread HSV1 infection that results in HSV hepatitis, herpetic esophagitis, adrenal necrosis, interstitial pneumonia, HSV cystitis, arthritis, ganglionitis, myelitis etc.
