A high index of suspicion on part of the physician is needed if Chikungunya needs to be diagnosed, because many other diseases also present with features similar to Chikungunya.
An alert physician, along with a Complete Blood Count and Urine Examination, will ask for CHIKV IgM and IgG antibodies test to definitively diagnose the disease.
