Corns and calluses are generally uncomplicated. Most common complication is infection, sometimes leading to abscess formation.
Infection is much more common in individuals who are unable to care for themselves or who have poor circulation or diabetes.
Very rarely advanced and/or untreated infections can lead to ulceration of skin or infection of the blood (sepsis).
