Diagnosis and Tests

Dengue can be diagnosed either through the detection of Dengue antigens or antibodies.

  • Dengue NS 1 Antigen test is for early detection of the disease during the initial days of fever.
  • ELISA testing to detect IgM and IgG antibodies against Dengue virus in the blood.

It is also very essential to regular monitor the Complete Blood Count to observe the level of platelets in the blood and the extent of plasma leakage through hematocrit levels. When plasma leakage is high, hematocrit increases beyond the normal range.

Platelet counts decrease very fast till 6th day and then gradually rise with improvement of symptoms as a natural course of the disease.
