- Complete physical check up and history is vital for finding out the causes of Male Infertility.
- Laboratory tests include complete blood tests, hormonal analysis and complete semen analysis. Complete semen examination is done to determine sperm count, sperm morphology, sperm motility, presence of any fructose and infections. Repeated analysis may be required since report may fluctuate. Fertility analysis of partner (female) is also required.
- Urine is checked post ejaculation to see presence of sperms in case of retrograde ejaculation.
- Other tests include scrotal ultrasound which can detect varicocele and other problems in testicles using ultrasound. Transrectal ultrasound may be also done where probe is inserted into rectum to check prostate and other abnormalities.
- Testicular biopsy is required in very few cases to determine sperm production.
