 Risk Factors  of Tonsillitis
  • Young age: Tonsillitis is most common in preschool and middle age group children
  • Environment: Enhanced spread of infection occurs due to polluted and ill-ventilated environment and overcrowding
  • Infected people: Sometimes infection begins when a person breathes in bacteria or virus infected droplets that another person has breathed or sneezed out
  • Diminished resistance of the body: A person whose immunity is compromised has more chances of acquiring the infection, for e.g. HIV infected individuals or those on prolonged steroid medication
