Acute Adenoiditis

• It is an inflammation of the lymphoid tissue of the back of the roof of mouth caused by viral infection.
• The child experience painful swallowing, snoring, sleep disturbances and ear infections.

Infectious Mononucleosis

• Also known as glandular fever caused by Epstein-Barr virus.
• It is especially seen in adolescents and adults and is characterized by fever, sore throat and enlargement of lymph nodes.

Otitis Media

• Known as middle ear infection and is common in childhood.
• It usually starts off as a blockage of the Eustachian tube (a narrow tube that connects the nasal and middle ear cavities.
• Later, fluid gets collected in the middle ear and leads to infection and pain.

Diphtheria

• It is an upper respiratory tract infection caused by Corynebacterium diphtheriae.
• Symptoms include fever, sore throat, hoarseness and cough and bluish discoloration of the skin. Tonsils get covered with a purplish gray membrane.
