Genetics
: Crohn's Disease has genetic factor. It is a polygenic disorder. Over thirty genes have been associated with Crohn's Disease. Biological functions of most of them are known.
- Immune system : Crohn's disease is found to be result of defective immune regulation. Impaired innate immunity leads to a sustained inflammatory response to microbes in the colon. Defective immune response causes the immune system to attack the cells in intestinal tract.
- Infection : Crohn's disease has undefined infectious cause. Anaerobic organisms, particularly Bacteroides species, may be responsible for the induction of inflammation.
These are important causes of Crohn's disease.
