Symptoms of Hair Fall can be coordinated with any history of life events like stress, use of any drugs, to determine the cause.
- Blood test: Medical reasons of hair fall can be determined from blood tests.
- Examination of scalp can determine the pattern of hair loss
- Pull test: Hair is gently pulled to check if, there is diffuse hair loss. If more than three hairs come out from at least three different areas of scalp, then the test is considered positive.
- Pluck test: Here, hair is plucked from roots & examined under lens.
- Scalp biopsy: Hair samples are taken from scalp and examined under microscope.
- Trichoscopy: A dermoscope is used to check scalp hair. This is a non invasive process.
- Light microscopy is also used.
