Glossary of Terms
  • Fallopian tubes: Pair of tubes along which eggs travels from the ovaries to the uterus.
  • Cul de sac: It is a blind pouch which is closed at one end. The pelvic cavity has anterior and posterior cul de sacs.
  • Diaphragm: A dome-shaped muscular partition which separates the thorax from the abdomen and aids in breathing.
  • Ovary: A female reproductive organ, in which eggs (ova) and the female hormones, Estrogen and Progesterone are produced.
  • Ureter: Duct through which urine passes from the kidney to the urinary bladder.
  • Infertility: It is the inability to conceive in a sexually active, non-contraception using couple in one year.
  • Pelvic cavity: It is a body cavity which is bounded by the bones of the pelvis and supported by pelvic floor. The pelvic cavity primarily contains reproductive organs, urinary bladder, the pelvic colon, and rectum.
