Introduction

Do you experience discomfort and pain every time you wear closed shoes? Have you noticed that some of your joints have been hurting frequently? Do your joints become red and swollen along with the pain?

You are then, most likely to have developed gout, and it needs your immediate attention before it's too late.

Gout is one of the most painful types of arthritis, usually affecting one joint, generally the great toe and accounts for almost 5% of all cases of arthritis.

It is a potentially disabling type of arthritis and is characterized by sudden, severe pain, redness and inflammation of the joint, generally the great toe.

If left untreated, it can cause irreversible joint damage, kidney damage and deposition of uric acid in the tissues. Men are more likely to develop gout than women, although women become susceptible post menopause.
