  • Lumbar Spondylosis is very common above 40 years of age.
  • Obesity – Patients who are obese tend to put additional load on weight bearing joints leading to spondylosis.
  • Patients with a history of fall or trauma in the past or who have suffered a hip injury, undergone spine surgery are more susceptible to develop lumbar spondylosis later on.
  • Abnormal posture and sedentary life – Maintaining an improper way of sitting without correct back support and having a sedentary life puts extra pressure on muscles and ligaments of the weight bearing joints leading to early degenerative changes.
  • Patients with a strong genetic and familial predisposition are more likely to suffer from Lumbar spondylosis.
