- Most of the cases resolve within 1- 2 weeks and need no treatment. If they are very painful or discomforting; interfering with daily routine or persist longer, then they need attention. Recurrent ulcers should also receive treatment.
- Local topical painkillers, steroids, anti bacterial and anti fungal drugs are generally prescribed. Antimicrobial mouthwashes are also prescribed.
- Treatment aims at removing underlying cause mainly in recurrent ulcers.
