Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
  • 1 Are chalazia considered as tumour?

No, chalazia are non cancerous benign lump. They are neither tumour nor growth. They are due to blockage and subsequent accumulation of oily secretion of meibomian gland. Since the secretion fails to get drained, they form cyst like lump which looks like growth but is not.

Though, rarely recurrent and multiple chalazia can be sign of skin cancer. Hence every case of chalazia must be investigated and treated. Opt for constitutional and holistic homeopathic treatment to remove predisposal tendency towards recurrent chalazion.

  • 2 I am 32 years old lady. I had chalazion two times in the past, on my left upper eyelid. They were of small size and regressed themselves. What should I do to prevent their future recurrence?

Since you had recurrent chalazia in the past; it seems you have a genetic or constitutional predisposition towards chalazia. Hence you should opt for homeopathic treatment at the earliest since homeopathy can treat the constitutional tendency towards any diseases with its holistic and individualistic approach. Also under mentioned simple home measures will help you in preventing recurrence-

    • Apply light pressure with your thumb or finger on the affected area and massage very gently in the direction of eyelashes for few minutes. Repeat this for 5-6 times a day. But be gentle and careful not to hurt your eyes.
    • Keep your eyelashes clean. Rinse them with solution of clean warm water and mild baby shampoo. Wash your eyes twice daily.
    • Apply hot towel compress on both eyes every night before sleeping. Warm towel application on chalazion may open the blockage of meibomian gland. Dip and soak a clean towel in warm water, squeeze out excess water and apply on affected eyelid for 7-8 minutes. Repeat the procedure for 15-20 minutes. This will ease swelling and will promote better drainage. Water should be warm and not burning hot.
    • Never touch your eyes with dirty hands or cloth.
    • Protect your eyes from dirt, dust, grease etc.
    • Use good quality eye make up and change the product every six months.

  • 3 I am suffering from chalazion since last 4 weeks. I had been advised surgery to remove the same but i am scared of operation. Can homeopathy help me?

Yes, definitely. Homeopathy has amazing results in treatment of chalazion where surgery is advised. Homeopathy has an excellent success rate in treatment for chalazion. It corrects the genetic predisposition and susceptibility towards chalazion. Homeopathic medicines are non toxic, harmless and side effect free since dosages are minute.

Homeopathic medicine when correctly prescribed has the power to relieve the blockage of meibomian gland opening and facilitate the drainage of trapped oily substance, which reduces the size of chalazion and regress it gradually. Moreover it does not cause any side effect. Since homeopathic medicines are constitutionally and holistically prescribed, they also remove the tendency towards recurrence of chalazion without any side effects.

But again results and prognosis may vary from case to case and depends on many factors including size and duration of chalazia, complications caused by it (if any), age and pre-existing disease of patient, his response towards medicines, etc.
