Chalazia are noticed by patient themselves or by relatives. Upper eyelid Chalazion is easily visible and felt while lower eyelid Chalazion is seen on looking at the mirror.
Medical and eye examination is conducted by the doctor along with physical examination. Occasionally if eyelid cancer is suspected, a biopsy may be required after surgical excision of the Chalazion tissue.
