Keloid is a scar that does not cease to grow. When the scar tissue keeps on proliferating, the result is an overgrown (hypertrophic) scar or a Keloid.
Normally, in response to any injury or a cut, tissue in the skin is repaired by the formation of collagen (a type of protein) and a scar tissue is formed which is the typical healing process for everyone. But Keloid arises when there is too much collagen formed in the dermis during the repair of tissue.
