- Self examination of breast in front of mirror is recommended every six months for every woman and if any lump is found it is further evaluated by doctors. Routine screening also helps in diagnosis.
- Examination by Palpation method determines if there is any lump or mass in breasts.
- Test like Mammography (Breast X-Ray) is specific test used both in screening and in diagnosis.
- Ultra-sonography (USG) is also used in certain cases.
- FNAC (Fine Needle Aspiration of Breasts) or Biopsy is done to determine type of the lump tissue to ascertain if it is benign or malignant. Here a needle is inserted in the mass and tissue is removed and studied under high defined microscope.
