Some conditions which are more or less similar to INSOMNIA are-
Anxiety disorder- It is associated with typical anxiety, worries, irritability. Person affected with anxiety disorder usually finds it difficult to fall asleep as they are too much anxious.
Delayed sleep phase disorder- This is a type of sleep disorder, where person fall asleep but after much time and effort, which can result in rising up late in morning.
Restless Leg Syndrome- A type of neurological sleep disorder where there is irresistible urge to move the legs as soon as person touches the bed or tries to relax due to strange sensations in legs. This can prevent the person from falling asleep.
ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) - It is a neurological- psychiatric disorder with severe attention problem and hyperactivity. Insomnia is associated with it. Such children find it difficult to sleep.
Substance Abuse- Effect of Alcoholism, drug abuse, is similar to Insomnia. Alcohol addiction can cause sleep deprivation.
Post traumatic disorder- It develops after person witnesses some serious traumatic event in their life and it leaves permanent impact on their life and mind like sexual assault, death. It can result in acute or chronic Insomnia.
Depression - It is very common psychiatric disorder where person may find it difficult to sleep or gets up early in morning.
Sleep Apnoea - It is a serious sleep disorder where spontaneous breathing is obstructed while person is asleep, resulting in difficult breathing and disturbed sleep.
Jet Lag - Travelling at different time zone may disturb natural biological clock of body resulting in Insomnia.
Narcolepsy - A type of sleep disorder which is life-long and can severely affect your routine life.
