Total prevention of Postpartum Depression is not possible. Though following measures may be helpful. They also prevent recurrence in already existing cases of depression.
- Get proper rest. Do not shy away getting help from other family members.
- Give time for yourself.
- Do not overload yourself with work. Always ask for help.
- Get balanced diet.
- Routine exercise, yoga, meditation and stress management classes also help in reducing anxiety and thereby decreases severity of POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION.
- Avoiding smoking and alcohol.
- Get enough sleep.
